A chlorophyll meter is an instrument used for rapid and non-destructive testing of chlorophyll content in plant leaves. It is widely used in agriculture, forestry, horticulture, and scientific research.

Chlorophyll is an important pigment for photosynthesis in plants, and its content directly affects plant growth and photosynthetic efficiency. By measuring chlorophyll content, the nutritional status, nitrogen levels, and health of plants can be scientifically assessed, providing data support for precise fertilization, crop management, and disease early warning.

The working principle of a chlorophyll meter is usually based on optical reflection technology. It uses light of a specific wavelength to illuminate the leaf and measures the absorption or reflection intensity of the light by the leaf using a sensor, thereby calculating the chlorophyll content.

A common indicator is the SPAD value (Soil and Plant Analyzer Development), which has a good correlation with chlorophyll concentration. Due to its portability, ease of operation, and the fact that it does not require sample destruction, the chlorophyll meter has significant advantages in field testing.

In agricultural production, farmers can regularly monitor the chlorophyll content of crop leaves to determine whether nitrogen fertilizer is needed, avoiding environmental pollution and resource waste caused by excessive fertilization.

At the same time, in the field of scientific research, this instrument is also commonly used in plant physiological and ecological research, stress resistance analysis, and new variety breeding. With the development of technology, modern chlorophyll meters are developing towards intelligence, high precision, and multi-parameter integration, providing strong technical support for the sustainable development of modern agriculture.
